My Psalm by Loretta Goddard

My Psalm
God, your word sparkles--
…twinkles.
It is living—
…like a firefly,
and bright like a shooting star.
It imprints, sears, my heart with your brand:
I am your bond-servant,
your friend.
I am your bride.
Your word meets me at the door of my heart;
brings in its arms exactly what I need;
shines a spotlight on the answers to my questions;
reminds me of your intense love
and unspoiled, pristine holiness.
Your word comforts me,
strengthens the substance of things I can’t see,
reminds me of my family:
--Grandpa Adam and Grandma Eve,
--Brother Jesus
--You, my Abba, and
--your overflowing, ever-present Spirit whose joy it is to whisper your honey-sweet word into my ear.
